Suddenly, pSegolene’s lizard jumped to the ground and quickly scampered over to the structure and dashed up the side.
And eventually some people, the kids especially, began to see a specific form emerge as Culev looked. At last, pSegolene could see something too. It was the frame of a building—a really tall building. A really, really tall building. And as Culev held her vision, the tower got more and more real. For a while the tower was translucent, but then Culev looked around at all who were gathered: the kids, the elders, a few merchants and farmers, even the snakes in the grass, even, or, maybe, especially, the lizard on young pSegolene’s shoulder. As she looked back her intensity seemed to have only grown.
The vision was an Eqlmundi (basically a kind of tower common to monastery districts around what we call the globe). Suddenly, pSegolene’s lizard jumped to the ground and quickly scampered over to the structure and dashed up the side. And then, as lizards do, it stopped and looked around intently, a bit comically. The lizard was pretty far up when the villagers finally saw it. They laughed and then Culev saw it too—she smiled. In fact, she had to laugh at the earnestness of the new arrival . . .
