Velchmas or battle scenes are re-enactments with model soldiers of important battles in the history of Kymaerica. They can be performed by anyone (and indeed it is a favorite game for kids in Kymaerica), but the most elaborate ones tend to be done by high priests and, indeed, the word has a slight feeling of ritual to it in the Cognate tongue. Velchmas are interesting because they are one of a handful of truly cross national cultural traits in Kymaerica. Velchmas have been observed in every district, snd it seems as if they have been seen in every nation.
With the beginning of the internet, they are often performed for a large audience. Some of the most famous Velchmas are the Battle of Lost Hills, the Battle of Lemoore and the Battle of the Platte which is performed every ten years for 16 days in a row and can involve up to 200 monks, leading up to the final desperate fighting at Willow Island. Typically it is staged just east of Gothenburg in the Platte Republic, near the site of the Battle of the Platte.
