Named by General Bainbridge after the nation they left behind, Nu Decatur was originally simply a settlement in the Fowling District of Calvary (part of present-day Grady County). It was originally called the Befouling district, as it was where all the waste that Cairenes produced was sent. As Nu Decatur became more prosperous, they rebelled against the Egyptians and seized this portion of that nation
