Legendary for the stern rule of Jezven MacHolcomb, Martial gwome was the scene of many unusual genetic experiments. The fact that Joshua MacHolcomb (the Leader’s brother) and other leading scientists were creationists was irony lost on the believers in this community.
Not believing in evolution they were often careless in their work, knowing that God would not permit unsuccessful experiment. Tragically, it turned out that He would.
Supposedly legendary creatures like centaurs, satyrs, and Wholecomms may have their origins in these experiments. (A “wholecomm” is a man whose hairs—EVERYWHERE—are actually individual dragonfly wings and whose left leg is half snapping turtle and half lichen).
