Muir Woods
Muir Woods remains a gem of wilderness even in contemporary Marin County. Few people realize that even today there are hidden canyons in Muir Woods National Monument with significant numbers of extremely rare and even disturbing lifeforms living in them. Park officials are keen to stress that there are no links between these areas and missing hikers.
Marin Culture
The sacred mountain of Mount Tam can be seen from just about all of Marin Nation, it was at the foot of this mountain that the refugees from the occupation of San Francisco gathered. Angel Island was also such a gathering place, in fact, it takes its name from being given to the people of the Marin Nation by the people of San Francisco in gratitude for their hospitality and succor during that time. (Some have claimed it takes its name from being northernmost point of Angeleno expansion, but most reliable scholars doubt that.)
